Before I worked with Presidents, Governors and business leaders, I was a lawyer and alcoholic who went to prison over a decade ago. When I was locked up no one asked me for money, but nearly everyone asked me for a job. I never forgot that - and have dedicated my life to building systems and changing laws to help people reenter society. By bringing resources and information together people can quickly find and connect to services, which will make our communities safer and more prosperous. Having built and run large reentry programs and campaigns across the country I have seen even the most dedicated people fall because they could not readily access critical services in time. Thanks to GoFurther no one will travel their road back alone.

Life has taught me that our past does not define our future. Being justice-impacted has given me a unique lens through which I view the world, one that's filled with resilience, determination, and an unwavering belief in second chances. Every challenge we face is an opportunity to grow, to learn, and to inspire others. This platform is more than just a resource; it's a beacon of hope, a testament to the strength of our community. I encourage you to embrace it, to share your journey, and to remember that together, we can turn our experiences into powerful catalysts for change. Let's uplift each other and pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future.

As the Founding Director of the Prisons and Justice Initiative (PJI) and the Frederick Douglass Project for Justice (FDP), I’ve dedicated my career to breaking down the harmful stereotypes that prevent real and meaningful change to the criminal legal system. A virtual resource center like GoFurther Connect is very closely aligned with what we strive to do in my programs: bridge the gap between formerly incarcerated individuals and the opportunities that will empower them through reentry and beyond. GoFurther Connect’s commitment to provide the best possible resources for the reintegration of incarcerated individuals in our communities makes it a powerful tool for advancing the rehabilitative model and ultimately breaking the cycles of incarceration and poverty that fuel the current status quo. Having witnessed the transformative impact of this work firsthand, I have no doubt that that the impact of GoFurther Connect will be equally profound.
